The Edwin McQueen Story

A designer’s eye, a craftsman’s hand, a competitor’s drive.

Some of my earliest memories
are of dogs.

Where my love for it all began.

Waking up before dawn to sit in a duck blind with my dad, our Lab steady and patient as we watched the sky. Later, exploring the outdoors with that same dog, I fell in love with nature and all it has to offer.

He taught me as much about myself as he did about training.

We had our share of success, but he lacked the drive I saw in the horseback trials I admired. Those wide-open prairies and the community that welcomed me at the Big Country Trial in eastern Alberta pulled me in. Even though my dog couldn’t keep up with the Pointers and Setters that dominated the sport, I was hooked. That journey eventually led me to my first Pointer—and I’ve never looked back.

It quickly became the perfect blend of everything I love: dogs, horses, craftsmanship, and design. For me, bird dogs and leather aren’t separate passions—they’re threads of the same story. Every piece I make is cut, shaped, stitched, and finished by hand, carrying the same care and respect I bring to raising and training dogs. I’m not interested in cookie-cutter production. I want my work to have purpose and meaning, to reflect the sport I love, and to bring a touch of thoughtful design into the field.

Always Striving to be Better

For me, it’s about creating with purpose, working hard, and learning every step of the way. I’m still improving and honing my skills
— and I’ll probably never stop— but I carry a relentless drive to be better tomorrow than I am today.
